Safari is technically limited (by Apple) to only allow you to share your entire screen, which means when you press the screen sharing button it will share your entire screen immediately. You’ll need to be on Safari 13 or above (released with MacOS Mojave) to share your screen.

Apr 26, 2016 · First, When doing screen sharing I already have network access to the computer. Either because it has a public IP, is on a VPN, or both computers are on the same LAN. So that is not an issue. However, instead of using the Screen Sharing app I always use Apple Remote Desktop.

I have a Mac Pro and a Mac mini both with Lion installed. What I did for screen sharing is that I set up a administer account with a password on both machines. When using screen sharing, I log in using the administrator password instead of using the code in the sharing setting.
